Recovery North East offers a safe, non-judgmental, recovery focused approach to supporting people looking for help with alcohol, drugs, or other addictive behaviours.
Kat brings over 10 years of experience in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector, working in both residential and non-residential settings, and is the heart of Recovery North East.
Kat has worked in a range of roles in the alcohol and drug sector including providing drug and alcohol assessment, outreach programs, AOD counselling, case management, advocacy, group facilitation, family reunification support, program development and Leadership roles. Kat also brings experience working within multidisciplinary teams including with legal services, medical professionals, mental health clinicians, allied health professionals, carers and social supports.
Kat’s experience is supported by extensive training in the field including undergraduate degree with majors in Education Studies as well as Psychology, Graduate Certificate in Alcohol and Other Drug Studies and a Master of Addictive Behaviours. Kat has also completed training in trauma-informed care, CBT, ACT, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, Forensic AOD support, MATRIX relapse prevention groups, SMART Recovery, mental health comorbidities, neurodiversity affirming practice and much more, ensuring you receive informed and professional care.
Kat’s approach is person-centred, trauma-informed, and focused on meeting you where you are. Kat draws on her extensive training and experience to provide recovery-oriented, evidence-based strategies that draw on individual strengths, and a focus on long-term wellbeing.
